Chef Sebastian White
Sebastian is a trained psychotherapist, who was working with youth who were gang-involved, labeled at-risk, and many others who were simply struggling with the complexities of life before being hit and devastated by the unexpected deaths of both his aunt (Gwen Barjon) and father (William White Jr). In their honor, he founded The Evolved Network, NFP and established Evolved Kitchen and Garden, LLC. Sebastian seeks to inspire through food and use its lessons to heal.

A note from Sebastian,
the founder, president and ED of The Evolved Network

I officially met Chef Darnell when he agreed to station at our Eat and Evolve fundraiser at eden last year. Darnell and I had not met and his knowledge about The Evolved Network was limited, but he still
graciously came out to support us with his time and talent. As The Evolved Network continues to become embraced by the Chicago Chef community, I’ve encountered multiple chefs in passing who have nothing
but glowing words to say about him and his food. Who he is as a person is clearly matched by his talent in the kitchen. He may be quiet, but his food speaks volumes. When Chef Darnell came out to our Prairie Grass Cafe dinner in early February, I got the opportunity to really talk to him and he immediately offered this opportunity for us to do a dinner together. I was honored by the ask and the opportunity to work with a chef of his caliber, but more importantly to collaborate with a black male chef who is also a girl dad and has chosen to honor his loved one through his work and restaurant, that being his grandmother Luella Funches. I know the power of being inspired by those we love and continuing their legacy(ies) and what they mean to us in our work. I look forward to exploring some southern concepts and learning from him as we provide this incredible menu at Luella’s. This dinner is also special because we also get to honor all the wonderful moms out there with a soulful and comforting meal brought to you by two sons who understand the impact and significance of mama.

Thanks Chef!
